New work on the theme of ‘Time Lost‘ … Letterpress and screen prints

(Above) The text is blind embossed and the dandelion is printed with gold dust which creates sparkles. (difficult to portray here). I have also printed a small edition in silver.    ‘Past Present Future‘ …( the smaller print below) is printed with a matt gold colour.

Two letterpress prints (one with additional lino cuts) … both new work in progress and ‘Wandering’ Book. All created as a result of my increasing interest in both our honey bees  and the large number of bumble bees that have been in the garden all summer. I still have several ideas, some of which my end up in books or prints, but for now it must wait as the work I am taking to The Small Publishers Fair  next weekend is organised.

Latest original print books.

Wandering (Not all who Wander are Lost) … This was inspired by reading and researching about bees and butterflies. It was made by first printing and over printing letterpress and then further overprinting with 5 different lino blocks. The book gently moves when displayed open as a result of the way in which the pages are folded.

Time & Tide (Wait for No-one) This book is also is letterpress here printed over a silk screen print of water patterns. The oilbased ink of letterpress has been rejected by the waterbased silk screen ink giving the appearance of the words being washed away. Each cover has a different collaged seagull flying over.

THIS WEEKEND … Manchester Artists Book Fair 2016 is on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th October 10 – 5.00 in the Old Fire Station. http://www.manchesterartistsbookfair.com/ There will be loads to see along with workshops and demonstrations. This year the Book fair is part of the Manchester Design Festival and The Old Fire Station is a new Venue. http://designmcr.com/venues/london-road-fire-station I will be there with lots of new work, both illustrative and originally printed with letterpress, relief and screen.

Print coming off the press

Using Letterpress, monoprint & lithography together I have created another TIME print.

It will be shown at the 14th exhibition of fine art prints and artists books in the tithe barn at The Sidney Nolan Trust. The Exhibition runs from 11-20 September, 11.00am-5.00pm daily for h. Art (Herefordshire arts week)

All in a Gardeners Year … A Guide to Common Hazards… Is finished (well almost)

I did it … All artwork was completed by the end of July and I have even printed out the first prototype proofs of the book in a mini version. It has now entered the resting, thinking phase of production (or rather the project is waiting for the next deadline). Meanwhile I have returned to Lithography and Letterpress Printing where I am still working on a gardening theme. Any results will have to await the next blog entry.
